Dr. Christina Maslach is a Professor of Psychology and a researcher at the Healthy Workplaces Center at the University of California, Berkeley. She is one of the pioneering researchers on job burnout and is the author of “The Truth About Burnout”.
In this episode, you'll learn the difference between being merely stressed out and the symptoms of burnout: exhaustion, cynicism, and a negative sense of oneself. Dr. Maslach also walks us through the core psychological needs that promote worker motivation and psychological well-being. You’ll also hear how closely they correlate to an Agile workplace.
“It’s a lot about the environment, the job situation you’re in, it’s the other people, it’s the policies, it’s the way the work is structured and whether you have control over it.”
